May 2018 was the fourth New Haven Bike Month.

New Haven Bike Month is a month-long celebration of biking culture in May. Our mission to make sure that every single individual in every neighborhood feels safe, excited, and empowered to ride their bikes.

 

Community Festivals

In 2018, New Haven Bike Month worked with over a dozen community partners to help host seven community festivals and Open Streets events! Scroll down and click on the posters to learn more.

 

Downtown Open Streets
May 4, 4-7pm  |  Orange Street (between Crown & Center)

We love our city streets, and believe that together we can make them incredible places to bike, walk, and connect.

Come out to build a pop-up bike lane, tune up your bike, eat delicious food, support local advocacy organizations, try out New Haven Bike Share, and decorate your bike in time for a night ride with New Haven Bike Party.

Newhallville Block Party
May 5, 1-4pm  |  Ivy & Butler Streets

Let's celebrate biking, health, & wellness in Newhallville!

At this event there will be a free performance by Mike Steidley, nationally-recognized PRO BMX biker, free bike repair by Bradley Street Bicycle Co-Op and the devil's gear bike shop, a helmet give-away thanks Safe Kids Connecticut, and more!

This event is organized in partnership with King Robinson School, New Haven Parks, Recreation & Trees, New Haven Youth Department, and The Newhallville Learning Corridor.

 

 

Wheels on Whalley
May 12, 12-3pm  |  332 Whalley Avenue

Let's celebrate advocacy, biking, health, & wellness in the Whalley/Edgewood/Beaver Hills neighborhood!

At this event there will be free bike repair by Bradley Street Bicycle Co-Op & the devil's gear bike shop, a free helmet give-away thanks to Safe Kids Connecticut, a free light give-away thanks to Elm City Cycling, free health screenings & more!

This event is organized in partnership with Whalley Edgewood Beaver Hills Community Management Team.

The The Elm City Freddy Fixer Parade and International Festival of Arts & Ideas are collaborating with New Haven Bike MonthCornell Scott - Hill Health CenterNew Haven Free Public Library to celebrate the rich culture and history of the Dixwell neighborhood.

Fair Haven Neighborhood Festival

Celebrate with us for the 6th year. This year we will celebrate family in all of its forms. We invite you to enjoy with us food, local live music, bike activities, tours and more.
